Water - A Vital Need of Body
Water is an important need of our body, but the question arise that, how much water we should drink on daily basis. The answer of this question is generally depends upon various factor like the health of a person, daily activity of a person and where he/she is living.
There is no fixed amount, but it will depend upon the fluid requirement of the body. First you have to know that how much fluid is required by your body, and then you can estimate the daily requirement of water.
Our body generally loses water in form of sweat, urine, breath and bowel movements. So for proper functioning, we should fulfill the water requirement of the body. You can fulfill the water requirement of the body by taking water, beverages and food product that contains water.
According to research urine output of adults is around 1.5 liters in a day and some amount of water they lose in breathing, sweating and in bowel movements. So to fulfill this deficiency they should intake at least 2 liters of water in a day. Some deficiency of water is also fulfilled by the food which you intake, regularly.

About 60 percent of your body weight depends upon the water, so water is a major physical component in our body and every system of our body depends on it. Water provides several health benefits which include:
- It carries nutrients to the cells
- It prevents us from dehydration.
- It flushes out all the toxins from our vital organs.
- Provide moist environment to ear, nose and throat tissues.
Factors that affect the water need
Generally water needed by your body depends upon various factors like amount of physical activity, climate conditions and health condition.
- Exercise - when you do regular exercise the water requirement of you body will increases. Generally the quantity of water is required by your body depends upon how much sweat you lose during exercise.
- Climate conditions – if you are living in a hot and humid climate then water requirement of the body increases. If you are living on an altitude more than 2500 then your urination and breathing also increases rapidly, so at higher altitude you require more fluids.
- Health condition – if you are ill and unhealthy then you also requires more fluids to fulfill the body requirement. As in case of vomiting, diarrhea and fever your body loses additional fluids.
- Pregnancy – In case of pregnancy, women need additional fluids to remain hydrated.
